NATUROPATHIC SUPPORT FOR PERIMENOPAUSE & MENOPAUSE

Perimenopause can bring changes that feel confusing, unpredictable and sometimes completely unlike you. From changing periods and worsening PMS to sleep issues, mood changes, hot flushes, brain fog and fatigue, there can be a lot going on at once.

Naturopathic care can help you understand what's changing, investigate factors that may be contributing to your symptoms, and create a realistic plan to support you through this stage of life.

Ready to get started?

PERIMENOPAUSE IS MORE THAN JUST HOT FLUSHES.

Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause, and hormone levels don't simply decline in a straight line. They can fluctuate significantly throughout this stage, which is one reason symptoms can feel inconsistent or seem to appear out of nowhere.

Changes in oestrogen and progesterone can influence your menstrual cycle, sleep, mood, temperature regulation, cognition and more.

But hormones aren't always the whole picture. Thyroid health, iron status, blood sugar regulation, nutrient status, stress, sleep and other factors can overlap with - or exacerbate - symptoms commonly attributed to perimenopause.

My approach is about looking at the bigger picture rather than assuming every symptom is simply something you have to put up with because of your age.

ALREADY USING HRT - OR THINKING ABOUT IT?

Naturopathic care doesn't need to be an alternative to hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

If you're already using HRT, or discussing it with your GP, naturopathic care can sit alongside your medical treatment. We can still look at nutrition, sleep, stress, nutrient status, metabolic health and other factors that may be influencing how you feel.

Decisions about whether HRT is appropriate for you should be made with your prescribing healthcare professional.

HOW I SUPPORT YOU

A REALISTIC APPROACH TO FEELING BETTER

You don't need a perfect diet, a cupboard full of supplements or a completely new lifestyle just because you've entered perimenopause.

Your plan may include nutrition and lifestyle strategies, practitioner-only supplements or herbal medicine where appropriate, further investigation, and collaboration with your GP or other healthcare providers.

Recommendations are personalised to your symptoms, health history, medications, preferences and what is actually realistic for you.

FAQ

How do I know if I'm in perimenopause?

Perimenopause commonly begins in the 40s, although it can start earlier. Changes to your menstrual cycle are common, alongside symptoms such as sleep disturbance, hot flushes, mood changes, worsening PMS, headaches or brain fog. There isn't always one test that confirms perimenopause, so your age, symptoms and menstrual history are important.

Do I need hormone testing for perimenopause?

Not always. Hormone levels can fluctuate considerably during perimenopause, meaning a single result may not tell the whole story. Testing is considered based on your symptoms and health history and may sometimes focus on other factors such as thyroid function, iron status or metabolic health.

Can I see a naturopath if I'm taking HRT?

Yes. Naturopathic care can be used alongside HRT and other medical treatment. Your plan will take your medications into account, and any changes to prescribed medication should be discussed with your prescribing practitioner.

Can naturopathy help with perimenopause symptoms?

Naturopathic care may support areas such as nutrition, sleep, stress, nutrient status and lifestyle during perimenopause. Recommendations are personalised to your symptoms and health history, with referral or collaboration with your GP where appropriate.

Do I need to follow a restrictive diet during perimenopause?

No. My approach focuses on realistic, sustainable nutrition rather than unnecessary restriction. Your recommendations will be based on your individual needs, symptoms and health goals.

Can I book online?

Yes. Consultations are available in person from my Aldinga Beach clinic and online for clients throughout Australia.
